Love this bike!
I did lots of research on availability of small framed fat bikes. At 5' tall with a 27.5" inseam there are not a lot of options with appropriate standover height. I decided to give the Mini Sota a try. What a great, fun bike. At 31 lbs. with a 25" stand over height, it is the perfect bike for smaller framed women. I am extremely happy with the build and components on this bike. With standard sizes on everything, upgrading will not be a problem. Also, at $650, you can't go wrong! Buy one now, and see what I'm talking about. You won't be disappointed! Get your fat bike on!

Awesome!
Bottom line: I highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for a well priced, well built fat bike to fit a smaller person. I bought this bike for my wife who is just shy of 5 feet tall. I changed out the seatpost for a Thudbuster then put some clipless pedals on it. With this set up, it weighs 31.0 lbs. which I think is pretty light for a fat bike. It would be one pound less without the Thudbuster. Anyway, she loves the bike. It fits her perfectly. The shifting is clean and crisp. The brakes are great and levers work well with her small hands.

While one might think that this is a kid's bike and hence might be under spec'ed (especially for the price), that is not the case. It is well built and has a respectable build kit. You get more in this bike than you would from other 24" fat bikes offered by some other top brands for $1,000. She hasn't had a chance to properly test it on trails, but a friend of mine - who is 5'4" - tried it out on some technical snow mobile trails with lots of climbs, descents, twists and turns. While the rest of us were riding 26" fat bikes, he had no problem keeping up with us even though we were riding fast. He absolutely rocked this bike and was so impressed with it that he was going to buy one for himself and another for his girlfriend. The tires hooked up well in the varied conditions we encountered.

Since that time, I brought the bike into the local shop to have the 32 tooth chain ring swapped out for a 30 tooth ring that would will provide a gear range more suited for my wife. The mechanics at the shop were very impressed with the bike. As they had become a Framed dealer mere days after I bought the bike, they are contemplating stocking this model.

My only negative feedback with the purchase has nothing to do with the bike: I wish The-House would not use the "Free Gear - value up to $130" promotion. I had no interest in any of the free gear offered. I picked some sunglasses that had a retail value of $80. I would have rather had free shipping.

Sweet little fatbike
I was really impressed with the quality of the build and the components for a "kids" fatbike. It comes ready to hit the trail. My daughter absolutely loves it.

Great value
I have been fat-biking for 7 years now and the Mini-sota was purchased for my 8-year-old son. The bike arrived in perfect condition. It was well protected and boxed up nicely. Assembly was as easy as any quality bike. I think this bike offers great value compared to very limited options from Specialized (too expensive) and Walmart (poor quality, heavy). The only thing that we will likely upgrade is the crank or cassette in order to get a lower gear ratio that is more suitable for slow Alaskan winter riding (colder, deeper snow).

5 Stars for Value!
For the price is this the best kids fatbike available. Standard sizes on everything so easy to upgrade in the future. Great for the kids to have a respectable fatbike to ride and have fun on. Out of the box we only had to put the bars on, adjust the seat height, screw on the pedals, and put the wheels... everything was ready to ride (cables, tires aired, etc.)

Fun bike for the little guys
We got this bike for our 10 year old who is very into bikes. He races BMX, and is just getting into Mountain Biking. This is our 3rd fat bike in the family, and we love them all. Super fun to ride, he is not having a hard time leading the pack. It's light weight enough and has enough gears to tackle the hills.

Framed Mini-Sota: Buy one... now
This is great 'in-between' size for my 11yo. He out grew all of his 24" wheel bikes and is too short/small for a small adult bike. This fit bike fits perfectly yet there is room to grow. I've owned a lot of high end bikes and am very impressed with the build quality on this one. Everything works well together and should last until he out grows it. I'm betting I can get 75% of my price out of it when I sell it. Good job Framed!

If there were a way to make the grin on a ten year old's face any larger I have not seen it. He sounds like a monster truck coming down the street. Some minor assembly required but nothing major. The end result was perfect. Now there are three other brothers and many friends that are jealous.

This is a replacement for a Mini Sota that was destroyed in a fire. This bike has a better build, is lighter and has been easier to ride than any other kids bike out there. My 8 yo daughter loves this bike. That is why I am buying her a second one.

What is the weight & stand over height on this bike? Can you please provide the height range of the rider of this bike?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Shopper - The Mini-Sota weighs around 31lbs, and the stand-over is 25.5". Height range is debatable, since the first determining factor is the stand-over, or inseam, height
Thanks for the question!
I have tried to find a petite woman's bike for my wife, 5.0' inseam 26.5" Is this the best option? If i wanted the 'vela women's plush' seat, would that be an add on item to order? Was hoping to find a 26" wheeled fatty, but the stand over height seems to be a real issue. Thoughts, comments and guidance would be appreciated.

BEST ANSWER: Dave,
I apologize if you have already looked at this, but we offer a Women's specific version of the Minnesota! http://www.the-house.com/qfrmin2w15wbl15zz-framed-bikes.html That, I believe, will be your best option. The Stand Over for the 15" Women's version is 29." Too high? Good Luck with your search, and I recommend you chat with our Framed guys... they can give you more detailed help: 1 (800) 409-7669
I'm a 63 year old women 5' 2". I'm looking for a fat bike to hold 200 lbs. I have a big bottom seat does you fat bike hold this weight? Thank you.
A shopper on Aug 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Framed Mini-sota recommended weight and warranty standard is 155lbs. It sounds like you may be looking for something like a 15" Minnesota 1.0 from your description of you height. The Mini-Sota is a XS version of the Framed line up.
My son is 54 inches tall, age 10. What size fat bike would work for a growing kid?
Ann's email on Nov 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This bike would be perfect for him as long as you make sure you measure his inseam to make sure he clears the stand over height on the bike.
Hi, is there a slim wheel/tire combination for this kids bike similar to the slimmed 29 inch wheel-set available for the adults version( fattie slim 29)? if not, can you make any recommendations as how it could be made more versatile?
kevin k on Nov 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: We do not have any slim wheels for the Framed Mini-Sota. as for the Versatility of this bike, we are the only one that offers a kids size fat bike, so to my knowledge there is nothing out there yet that will fit the frame and fork

I am going to purchase one of your smaller frame Framed Fat bikes for my girlfriend. She is 5'1" and weights 103 lbs. Stand over height is less than 27 inches. Should I order the 15" 2.0 or the Mini-Soda?
Chris B on Mar 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hey Chris,
A few people of her specs have purchased the Mini-Soda and absolutely loved it. I would actually look at that!
Does the mini-sota fat bike have grip shifts???
Tobin P on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does....my 8 year old son loves this bike and the grip shift was very intuitive for him. Buy it... your child will love it and you cannot beat the price for what you get.
I am a normal built Asian guy, who stands at 5'3" and weigh 120lbs..would this Fat Bike be the best choice for me, out of all of the Fat Bike line up?
Johnnie L on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes this would be a great size. When I first bought this Fat Bike my weight was 265lbs and my hight is 5" feet. I started to eat healthier and take my Fat Bike on the weekends and ride with my husband I have lost a lot I am now my weigh is 222lbs. Trust me this Fat Bike is worth paying what's is selling for don't even think about it. Also believe me you will have people asking you where did you get that Bike from.
is this a bike for adults as well?
A shopper on Dec 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm guessing you could use it as an adult but it would definitively be considering extra small for an adult. I've riding my kid's Mini-Sota, so the fat can handle my weight but I normally ride a Medium and would not want to ride the Mini-Sota for any length of time. Just too small for me.
Hi, I'm 5'3" male what bike would be best for me ?
A shopper on Feb 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You should easily fit the 24" MiniSota. Any other Fatbikes in a small frame with 26" tires is another option. If possible meander into a bike shop just to try some sizing and get expert advice. Fatbikes are a blast to ride so I hope you get to enjoy one as much as I do.
Is this a good bike for a 12-14 year old?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It all depends on the size of the person. A taller adolescent (5' 2" or more) with potential to continue growing may fit better on a smaller size adult bike. I ordered it because I am a very short adult, 4' 9", the specs look like a good fit for me.
My bike is in order so I havent actually ridden it yet.
Does the Mini-Sota come in various color options besides black with blue wheels or white with red wheels?
A shopper on Apr 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, but you can always brake the bike down and get the frame powder coated any color you like :)
at what point do you purchase a mini virus a small adult fat bike?
A shopper on Dec 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Depending upon the height of the rider and their "standover" height. I'm a 5' adult with an inseam = 26.5 so this Mini-Sota is perfect for me! [the standover height is 25.5", you need at least an inch standover height so it makes it safer/easier by allowing you to get off the bike quickly. if it's too tall then you can get hurt more easily...especially if you are a lesser experienced rider]
Can a rear rack be mounted to this frame?
samantha m on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: there are eyelets on the seat stays. So yes, if you get the right rack... i would suggest the PHAT Sherpa for Fat-bikes by Old Man Mountain. I cant guarantee it will fit, but chances are good.
Can the wheel and tire combo run tubeless?
A shopper on Jul 2, 2015

It is not tubeless ready as it is. They, however, can fairly simply be converted. Have a chat with our Bike Shop for more details: 1 (800) 409-7669.
What type of front derailleur and chainrings will fit the Mini-Sota?
David on Feb 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry David - I can't suggest a front derailleur as we don't use one . The 24" tires with the single front chainring and 11-34 Cog Set give a great range of gears for kids. My 9 year old grandson climbs just about any grade of hill on it as well as he did on his previous 24" Trek with TRIPLE front rings. The lack of multiple front chainrings is a bonus preventing "chain suck - cross-chaining - and dropped chains". You will notice a trend for many mountain and Fatbikes now being equipped with 1x 10 drivetrains [no front derailleur - Happy riding and stay safe out there!
Any info on the mini-sota's geometry? I'm really curious of the head angle?
Tea S on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: My son who is 9yrs old with 24" inseam and 4'7" tall fits on the bike perfectly. He has not taken the bike in the trails yet but from testing around the neighborhood, he's really happy and could not wait to use it on the trails. Price is not that bad, having SRAM components with smooth grip shift and Avid BB5 disc brakes, he's happy. It was supposed to come with matching anodized blue seat clamp but the bike came with black.
Hi, thinking about getting a mini sota for my mom. She is tiny and just wanted to know if I can put a 11 or 12 speed setup on this to make it a better all around rig for her. Also is there a carbon fork option?
Joel F on Jun 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi,
I spoke to our bike shop as this is a specific request. You could put a 10 speed set-up on this bike, but not really an 11 or 12. Not without new wheels anyway. The sizing of the bike might be perfect for your mom. The Mini-Sota uses a a non-tapered headtube, and as far as I know there is not a Carbon fork available. For a more detailed conversation, feel free to chat with our bike shop: 1 (800) 409-7669.
Could someone point me to the assembly instructions? I'm trying to decide if I want to assemble it myself or not. Thanks!
kendotj on Apr 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ken,
Framed does not readily post assembly instructions, as they want you to use a certified bike tech to set it up. If you have specific assembly questions chat with Framed at 1-866-956-5971 or our bike shop at: 651-482-9995. Either way I would suggest not to build the bike yourself.

My son is 8 year, 21" stand over and 49" do you have a fat tire bike that would work for him????
John M on Aug 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi John,
The smallest fatbike we currently have is this Framed Mini-Sota. It's a sweet youth bike, but is a little too big... I agree. As far as I know there is only one Fatbike on the market that is small enough for your son.... that is the Specialized Fatboy 20. It is NOT cheap.
Can you add a front derailure ?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Good Day,
You certainly could add a front derailleur to this Mini-Sota. However you would obviously need to change the crank and add a 2X.
Im 5'2" adult male 250lbs will the mini-sota support my weight or should I get a 15" minnesota fat bike?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hey,
You are at the ceiling for the Mini-Sota specs. The 15" Minnesota Series Fatbikes are a much better option... and you will like 'em a lot!
What is the max weight for this bike?
Thanks
A shopper on Apr 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Framed suggests that the weight ceiling for the Mini-Sota Fatbike is right around 150lbs. The standard Minnesota Fatbikes have a weight capacity between 280-300lbs.
Is the price going to stay the same at least until the bikes are actually available through local dealers, as well as online?
