Description: Alaskan Carbon Fat Bike Frame

Remember that superhero sensation you felt as a kid riding your bike? Those days of personal exploration and freedom of expression culminated into a sense of self-fulfillment unmatched by most experiences. The Alaskan Carbon strips away the mundane, responsible pavement commuter and transports you back into that magical adolescent world. Climb and descend faster than a speeding bullet; slay berms and roll over features like a locomotive. The Alaskan's stiff, lightweight frame and clearance for monster 5"" tires give you the confidence to attack and conquer terrain you never thought possible. Put your cape back on and leave the skinny tires to the real-lifers.

This bike is a game changer and with your frame-up build, it can be your knife for any and every condition. It is ready to mash rock and root when you add a Rock Shox Bluto. For a light weight, stable, snow-racer; throw on a Framed Alaskan Carbon fork (660g+/- 20g).

It's important to note this frame is NOT the lightest carbon frame in the fat world…but it will be one of the strongest. Our carbon frame has passed the EFBE testing gauntlet. EFBE is the most respected third party bike testing facility out there (2/3 of all bikes tested there fail). We over build these frames to handle years of riding and the unique stresses fat tires put on a frame.

We don't publish weights until we're able to weigh numerous frames.

Does the thru-axle for the rear come with the frame?
Tom W on Oct 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No the 12mm thru-axle does not come with the purchase of the Framed Alaskan Carbon Fat Bike Frame. The thru-axle will be available for separate purchase but has yet to arrive. We are awaiting word from Framed bikes as to it's arrival.
What BB does this frame use? Standard threaded, BB30, ...?
chuck j on Jan 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Chuck, the Framed Alaskan Carbon has a 100mm X5 Bottom Bracket.
I have a Minnesota 3.0. Is it possible to move those components to the carbon frame?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have a MN 3.0, but have built a Carbon. Many components will fit, but some will not. Rear wheels are 197 mm on the carbon, 190 on the 3.0. I don't know if they offer replacement end caps to swap the 190 QR for the 197 through axle. Other parts you may want to consider: BB will fit, but strongly recommend to install a RaceFace with the Turbine Cinch (you will want the 100mm BB width and also need the wrench if you're DYI). Also, if you're thinking of going Carbon with RaceFace, consider 1X.......drops weight and you won't miss the extra ring up front. Headset is the same, but better to get a Cane Creek IS42/IS52 or FSA. Shift cables are internal, so again, recommend to get a Jagwire set (what I used and worked great). All other parts not mentioned should work. Hope this helps and good luck if you go Carbon.
Will the wheelset on my Alaskan Alloy fit on this?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi,
The short answer is no. The Alaskan Alloy wheels; are a 190mm QUANTA HUB
The Alaskan Carbon wheels are a 197mm PUB HUB. You CAN remove the spacers on the 197 pub hub and then it will work in a 190mm form for the Alloys. You can NOT go the other way, meaning that the existing Alloy build wheels (190)mm can't be increased in size to fit the Carbons without changing the actual HUB. Hope this helps.
In looking at the prebuilt Alaskans for sale, it appears they use an IS42 upper/IS 52 lower. Is this the correct SHIS sizes? If so, are the cups prepped or do they require any reaming? Thanks.
A shopper on Apr 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The cups may require a slight bit f reaming to ensure a proper fit for a different headset other than the Orbit FSA headset that the bike is specked with.
It's this frame available in other colors or is red the only choice? Thanks!
A shopper on Feb 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi,
I just now received some information from Framed for you. For the Alaskan Carbon Frame you will also have a Black/ White option looking similar to this: http://www.the-house.com/qfraccfx7xwt15bkzz-framed-fat-bikes.html (Just the Frame). If you prefer that one call one of our sales staff and request it... they are not quite online yet: 1 (800) 409-7669. Let me know if you have any trouble.
Do you have the geometry table available for these frames?
Ken Arnett on Jan 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ken.
You may already have, but take a look lower on the page here: http://www.framedbikes.com/alaskan-carbon-x1/ that may provide the needed info. Let me know it it does not.
