Snowboarding is my paradise. I am able to escape from reality by strapping in and riding with music. I’m able to clear my mind of all negativity and just enjoy it. No one to stop me. Snowboarding is my escape To a better place. No matter where that place may be. If I’m riding, that’s all that matters.

There are barely enough words for this!! Snowboarding means the world to me. It’s a place of escape, it’s the force that drives me to keep getting better to keep following my dreams. The people who inspire me are proper legends with true talent and good hearts. Snowboarding is my culture, my lifestyle and my joy. Being an artist couldn’t gel more with the art of this sport. It frees my mind and keeps me inspired. Got love for boarding.

Snowboarding to me is another life. Whether I’m flying down the side of a mountain or on a jib stick or hitting a kicker.. Everything about it makes me happy. Even when I broke my wrist, I boarded with my cast on. This is going to be the first year I can forget everything and progress. To me snowboarding gives me something good to do to escape all of the every day crap that tries to get me down. I’m a snowboarder for life. Here’s to another steezy year

Snowboarding to me means everything. Growing up in Illinois makes it tough to get as many snowboarding days as I would like but that does not stop me.This season I clocked about 70 riding days at my local HILL fourlakes. There is somthing magical about snowboarding that has brought me and my crew together. We spend our offseason dreaming and watching footy. I have also brought my love for snowboarding to others Through a club at my school that i am president of, “shred club” as we call it at plainfield north has about 60 kids and i set up trips to different resorts around the midwest and we get to go on four trips per season. Snowboarding is my life and I cant wait for November so i can get back to riding. my escape from all stress. there is nothig else in the world as rewarding as the first time landing a new trick. Snowboarding is so sacred to me that i even have to put chicks on hold during the season. Street this year consisted of one day of snowfall but we still got some clips. If you love snowboarding and wakeboarding check out my insta @ryanshreds so stoked for this seaso. getting this board would be crazy peace. SHOUTOUT TO FOURLAKES #lakesordie

Snowboarding is my getaway. It’s escaping from the chaos of the city into pure white blissfulness. It’s having a great time with all of your friends, but at the same time being completely alone. The best of both worlds. Being able to express yourself in a way that leaves you with the rawest sense of accomplishment. I’ve always wanted to experience what it would be like to fly… For me, snowboarding is as close as it gets. It’s satisfaction, but most of all it’s freedom.

Snowboarding to me is so much more than a sport. Snowboarding carries with it that lifestyle I love. I cant get enough of it. Its an addiction to me, for all of us. Snowboarding is an escape from whatever bullshit might be going on, a chance to free your mind and just enjoy something you love. Snowboarding means hanging out with some friends, it means having ripped calves for 4 months every year, hot chocolate and cold fingers, snowboarding is freedom, snowboarding is my passion. To me it means pushing yourself and your friends to go bigger and harder, challenging yourself to stick it by the end of the day, it means catch that last chair instead of retreating to your car. If you stop for just a second you can appreciate the day, your a talking monkey standing on a strip of wood plastic and metal, carving through frozen water, flying around the universe on a spaceship called Earth (Snowboarding is pretty heavy stuff). Snowboarding is a huge deal to me, you have to appreciate all the things that you can’t even see behind it all. I love snowboarding and this is what it means to me.

Snowboarding has been my escape since I was 17 years old and my mom helped me go in on a setup to keep me out of trouble. I have been lucky enough to stay healthy and usually get 80+ days a season on snow and even got up to assistant manager of the terrain park at my home mountain last year. Learning new tricks and taking my old ones to bigger and gnarlier features makes it so I never get tired of it. I might be considered a bum to some people.. but I don’t care what they think because I don’t live or shred for anyone else. Shoutout to Joey McGuire at Revolution in Wenatchee,Wa for getting me stoked on shredding all over again and fixing my board up 50 times a year. Need a new deck!

Snowboarding to most people is a hobby, a nice getaway to see a beautiful picturesque landscape and be among friends and family. Now I am not saying it is not those things, because they are reasons why I love going to the mountains. But to me, snowboarding is more of a time to escape reality. Putting on my gear at the lodge is like preparing to enter another reality, another universe even. My goggles are my sight, and nothing that causes me any stress can be seen, just beautiful, peaceful, ever-so-fluffy white snow. Where floating through fresh powder can make anyone man or woman, feel as if they are floating right over reality into a world where stress or foul memory has no hold or strength. Where launching off of a kicker can present a feeling of being weightless. So what is snowboarding to me? Snowboarding to me is a lot more than just a hobby, a nice getaway, and definitely more than just a beautiful picturesque landscape. I feel as if snowboarding is my personal machine to leave reality for a day, for my mind to travel down the white trails dodging trees and other obstacles, and freeing my brain that is abused with everyday problems and drama. Snowboarding is freedom, snowboarding is life.

    Snowboarding is perfection.

Snowboarding is bliss. Cutting a line in fresh powder, snowboarding is creation. Snowboarding is simultaneous relaxation and unbridled adrenaline. Freedom. It’s a solo sport that knits us all together into a tight web. Snowboarding is every ounce of weight lifted off of my shoulders and forgotten; complete freedom from the burdens of life. It’s a rush. It’s the world’s greatest high. It’s staring down your fears and asking out the girl of your dreams. It’s marrying her. Snowboarding is a relationship, complete with peaks, valleys, stomped landings, and caught edges. But even the icy patches, you wouldn’t trade for the world.

    Snowboarding is perfection.

As I grew older, my life started to become meaningless. I never saw the point of going to school, getting a job, getting married, blah blah blah. Same bullshit of the pattern of life. Everyday I started to question why we struggle so hard to achieve a normal life. Unfortunately, I never found an answer. Gradually I developed emotional problems and started lock myself out from the world. Each day was like living in hell and my situation was only getting worse. Then this savior reached out from the sky and rescued me from this agony. Yes! Snowboarding. I started to develop high interest and started to more snowboarding. I even moved to a local ski resort for a season as I fell in love with this attractive sport. I rode a chair lift one morning and it was bluebird day. Sun was rising behind the mountains and greeted me with warmth. Then I knew. This is what my life was meant to be. I finally found an answer to the question I have been seeking all my life. Now I have a reason to live for. Snowboarding means a friend who saved me from my miserable life.

Snowboarding means I have to jump in my car, drive north from Savannah, Georgia for about 8 or 9 hours, pay for 2 nights in a hotel, buy food for several days, and only then would I get to snowboard for a day and a half at the closest resort in North Carolina before driving back to one of the least snowy states in the U.S…. And despite all that it would take a death sentence to stop me from doing it… Screw Georgia…

Snowboarding for me is a way of life. Born in Lake Tahoe, Ca, I have been riding since i could stand at the age of 3. My childhood memories consist of walking up a hill with my board in hand all day to just catch 10 seconds of riding. My babysitter was the mountain. nearly 20 years later I still have that undying passion for snowboarding. I spend all my summers prepping for the season to come, and every day of the winter on the mountain. The snow is my happy place, it’s the one area in my life that i feel i really thrive. The best feeling in the world to me is flying down a mountain on fluffy white clouds that nature has created. The hustle and bustle of everyday life doesn’t exist, it’s just me, my board, and the mountain. If i could, i would spend every day of my life riding until i die. It is my favorite thing in the world. I was raised on it. I love snowboarding.

Snowboarding is what keeps me sober. After going on multiple deployments and being on ski patrol for 4 years I wanted badly to turn to alcohol and drugs. Without my winter pastime I very probably would have. When I hit the mountains I go hard until my body screams and all my mental pain is gone. I moved to Colorado just to pursue this euphoria. Without it I’d be dead.

Snowboarding is like dancing. I know that sounds kind of weird, but it’s depends on my mood and the music I am listening to. If it’s method man, then you best get out the way (especially if I am in the park). If it’s a cold Midwest night, then it’s a bon iver night. That means big lines with my fur mittens, cause you know I won’t be changing the track. In contrast, I am a little more unpredictable when I’m pumping the stooges, popping redbulls while riding with my crew. Shred on GIGI!

Growing up in Alaska, the mountains were my place of undisturbed and peaceful kingdom. A kingdom where I can calm my nerves by listening to the muffled sounds of the snow falling and the sounds of my board sculpting the sides of the mountains. I didn’t take lessons from big resorts since my family didn’t have a lot of money when i was growing up. I learned from watching the great legends like Craig Kelly and Terje Haakonsen, Jeff Brushie, Jasey Jay Anderson, and Shawn Palmer. Way before the times of todays riders like Shawn White and the like. I grew up Watching Snowboarding grow into what it is now today, times where it was more about big mountain riding and not as much as into the free-styling of todays riders. This sport has truly blow-up since I was a kid and I really enjoy watching on the big screen as well as TV, and I enjoy taking my children out on the mountains to learn and have fun what I grew up doing.

Life is hard. Snowboarding is simple. It gives me a million challenges every day on the mountain and doesn’t let me come down until I have conquered each one. Snowboarding doesn’t give me an easy way out or second options. It gives me an up and a down and then asks me again the next day if I am strong enough to do it again. Snowboarding is simple….and somehow makes life less hard.

Snowboarding has become my motivation in life. I want to succeed and make a decent living for myself so money will not be a limiting factor in snowboarding. With money not being a concern, I can travel the world snowboard the best mountains. Snowboarding has become such a major part of my life. Living on the east coast of the US, the snowboarding season is rather short. Whenever I cannot snowboard, I am reading snowboard magazines, going on snowboard websites to watch the latest snowboard movies and full parts, and browsing the newly released gear for the next season. It allows be to absorb the beauty of the areas I board in and enjoy the companionship of my friends. I became a snowboard instructor so I could pass on my love for snowboarding on to other people who will enjoy it as much as I do. Snowboarding is my passion and I couldn’t imagine living the rest of my life without having snowboarding be a part of it.

I love that its just you and your board. You pick YOUR lines, where YOU wanna go. No ones telling you where to go or what play to run. Its just YOU. To me snowboarding is life! Shredtastic!

many people will say that snowboarding is their life, they can’t get by without it, or their means of escaping reality. I don’t agree. Snowboarding isn’t my entire life. It isn’t what gets me through the day like the nagging of a nicotine addiction. What it is, however, is the opposite. It is something to pursue. To get out on the mountain, away from the distractions is an achievement in itself, if you’re being honest with yourself. We’re caught in this habit of busting our asses for other people, coming home and comforting ourselves with media and food and telling ourselves we deserve it and that it’s what we need. No, I don’t escape reality through snowboarding. I enter it. You can observe the world and nature as is – a pristine, untouched anomaly that we rarely get to see. What we live in our normal daily lives is the escape from reality. Staying indoors, watching how to live our lives on the internet and tv. No, snowboarding isn’t an escape. It’s a full-on fucking plunge into reality, and that is what I love about it.

Snowboarding is a freedom. Snowboarding’s like turning yourself into a bird. It gives you the capability to fly, and be more precise and agile with your actions. Snowboarding is fun… It’s what you make out of it. You can go all in on park, just ease along on the trails, or take your combined skills to the backcountry. In snowboarding you utilize the whole mountain and your goal is to master every single aspect of it. Snowboarding is a commitment and you have to be willing to send everything you have every single day. Snowboarding isn’t life, it’s just one of the best parts about it. You get to express yourself through style and flow and its 100% personalizable. Snowboarding is something that everyone who thinks they have done everything satisfying and daring in life should try. Snowboarding is for the persistent who are always willing to learn and accept their past mistakes. Snowboarding is my passion…

When I was a teenager, I thought it was cool, and yes, I fell into the “screw the two plankers” crowd. When I was in my twenties… It is what I wanted to do when the water was too cold to surf… SO COLD I would often get a “brain-freeze” from duck diving my first wave on a dawn patrol’s paddle out. Now that I am 35, with two kids and a third coming soon in mid-November. Snowboarding means so many more things than it used to. I know it sounds cliched but snowboarding puts me into a zen like… or dare I say, a “flow-state” (Thanks Warren Miller!). I have always been confused why people listen to music while snowboarding… THE SNOW and my connection to it through my board… are all the music I need and want! Seriously, when I hit the hill alone, I LOVE to hear the wind whip past my ears, my heart pounding in my chest, and my legs burning from the deep pow pow in the trees. SOME people don’t understand it and I even have friends tell me that I am too old for this snowboarding stuff and I need to leave it alone and focus on being an “adult” …They really don’t understand AT ALL the connection I share with the elements… I used to Surf the waves of Southern California… then I moved to Utah, NOW I surf the deepest and driest powder I have ever touched in my life… and when I slide some steeps and drag my hand above me on a toe-side turn… there is nothing else… no worries… no NOTHING… just the mountain and me. The ONLY thing better then escaping into powder is teaching my 6 year-old daughter and my 4 year-old son how to snowboard… and I can always use a couple more loyal snowboarding buddies. When I see the pure joy of it on their faces, I can remember what it was like when I learned to ride as a boy. To this day, I still laugh on my way down the hill on sick pow days… I swear it will NEVER get old… I will, but SNOWBOARDING will never die!

Being out of high school sports, wakeboarding and now snowboarding will be the sports I dedicate my time to. As of right now, I do not have a snowboard and this would be a great opportunity to get my own. I have watched snowboarding in the X-Games for many years and am excited to try it out at Mad River and Perfect North this winter with my friends from college. I recently joined a snowboarding club at the college I attend and we are going to Aspen, Colorado during our winter break. I would love to win this board!

It use to mean I was a rebel, a hell raiser, an outcast on the mountains when I got my first board in 85-86. But I was lucky enough to also share my board and my love for snowboarding early on. I turned many of my friends into snowboarders just by taking them to a snow covered golf course or hill. Many great seasons have passed. Now I am in amazement every time I hit the mountains. Kids these days are killing it, so advanced. As my skills and knees slowly fade, my love for snowboarding has grown. I love making new lines in the pow, nice easy turns on groomers, the escape the mountain gives me. I don’t think about work or bills when I am strapped in. I now look forward the small talk in lift lines, to the crisp bite winter as I sit on the chairlift, sharing cool spots to visitors and the car ride home with friends talking about a trick someone pulled off or an great wipeout even. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the excitement of trying something new even though sometimes it ends painfully, or following some kids lines and trying to do what they do, and blasting down the mountain fast enough that wind finds its way through my goggles and makes my eyes water.

It’s your dedication to the mountain and to yourself to challenge yourself to the point where you never feel you are good enough that there is always room to improve. If I could I would snowboard everyday of my life. It’s my escape from the world below the mountain. It makes me happier then any person or any amount of money ever could.

Snowboarding is the thing that made me who I am and gave me the friends I have now. The people I am best friends with now I met in middle school when one kid was trying to find people who wanted to go up to Lutsen. Snowboarding means the world to me. It is the time of year where I can go out on the hill and enjoy what is going on. It is always a rush of adrenaline to learn a new trick or win a game of snow. I think snowboarding is about expessing your persoonality in the way you ride and his you like being on the hill. But at the beginning of the season to the end you always seem to improve from last year and already can’t wait for the new season to start.

To me snowboarding is a way of life, it’s not some thing that I do, it’s what I do, who I am. So much that I’ve decided to make a career around the snowboard industry. Snowboarding is my therapy my escape from the world and a cluttered mind. It’s my moment of freedom, good times, memories, making new friends, struggles, frustration, and triumph. Snowboarding is what motivates me everyday. Anytime I’m having a bad day I just think of past memories of snowboarding riding powder, getting lost and most of all the adventures of riding.

To me snowboarding is hanging out with friends, having chill times and wrecking the slopes. It’s about learning new tricks, having fun while doing it and encouraging friends when they’re learning a new one. It’s about finding new lines and launching, and enjoying being out in nature while doing it. My snowboarding idol is Nicolas Müller because he loves the backcountry and finding natural kickers, using the landscape to kill it in the backcountry. This is why I love to snowboard because it is an outlet from school and I am enjoying God’s great creation on one of the best inventions ever!

Snowboarding is the escape from the norm. There’s too much “do this” “do that” in the world and snowboarding is pure expression at its finest. It’s a way to make friends and to spend time with old ones. There’s nothing quite like a game of “SNOW” on the down flat down at the nearby park! Waxing boards is something I do as a hobby all winter my boards my friends’ boards! It’s completely peaceful. Full perpetration for that next big trip out with the guys! Not to mention the great memories that come from hours on the hills and mountains. I took my “bestfriend” to snowboarding and that is where I escaped the dreaded “friend zone”. The pure expression of myself. Wrestling in the powder and watching the moon rise over the river at the bottoms of the hill. All of that is why I love snowboarding and why it means so much to me.

Having grown up in Vegas I was never exposed to the snowboarding scene. I have always been fascinated by the way snowboarders would cruise down the mountain with such finesse. The first time I ever attempted to “snowboard” was when I was camping in the mountains in Utah and my brother let me go down some small slopes on his skateboard deck. Since that moment I realized there was potential hobby in my future. Satisfaction of discovering things that I never knew I was capable of doing. Snowboarding to me by definition is adventure. You never know what you are capable of until you give it your best.

Snowboarding isn’t just an escape from reality, but an adventure. It takes me places that are beyond my wildest dreams and helps me figure out who I truly am and what I am doing. I’m not the best, but I’m getting better. Hopefully, I’ll be able to further my experience this coming spring when I attend the University of Nevada, Reno less than an hour from some of my favorite slopes.

Snowboarding to me isn’t just a hobby or a recreational activity. It’s a lifestyle. I was born here in Pocatello Idaho which is basically smack dab in the middle of Jackson Hole in one direction and that one of a kind Utah snow in the opposite direction. I have made it out of state about a dozen times in the 7 years I’ve been boarding but can honestly say I have the most amount of fun on a smaller local resort called Pebble Creek Ski area. It’s the ski bum, loving, caring, giving culture that is created that brings me back every year. I am an aspiring journalist and recently challenged myself to write some sort of work and post it to a social networking site on a daily basis. Less than a week ago this was the piece I posted:

    Pullin’ up, stomachs in knots,
internal struggle can’t get these thoughts,
    from circulating inside my brain,
time to fly without a plane.
I can’t describe how I get so high
Or so low when I say goodbye
    Yahoo! Banzai! Cowabunga!
It’s near impossible to fight this hunger!
I’d like to offer my thanks to Pebble,
I was born a man, but I’ll die a rebel.

This poem essentially summarizes my outlook on snowboarding and is exactly why I will forever be one with the snow:) Much love and may we all R.I.P. (Ride In Peace)!

before asking, what snowboardings is to me, we must understand snowboarding in itself. There is no set definition and there never will be snowboarding is what you want it to be. The only sport with no rules or pressure. Its the only sport that will contiue to evovle through tricks, terrain and the common intrests. snowboardings is what you make it. and you are what makes snowboarding. To me snowboarding is a unsolveable mystery and i just wanna be the detective on the case.

Snowboarding is meanful to everyone defferntly. For myself, it means freedom from the world and its problems. It allows me to get away from issues that I have to face every day, and that stress that comes with it. It means freedom to go hang out with the family or a few good buds. Freedom to view the world covered in a mask of snow which allows us to have a moment to glide over rocks and stumps on our pathway down. Freedom that gives us riders a good story to share with stranger. A freedom to fly over life challenges when we need it most..

To me snowboarding is getting back up after a hard fall, trying all day for that one trick and when the day ends saying, “I’ll get it tomorrow”. It’s and frozen toes foggy goggles. Snowboarding is not missing a weekend and being there for the best pow day of the season. It’s hearing that there’s fresh snow at Timberline and telling your teacher you think you have the stomach flu. It’s dedication, perseverance, and hard work. It’s love, tenderness, and rhythm. Snowboarding is my defining lifestyle.

Snowboarding is great. I crave it throughout the year (winter or not). I don’t grow tired of it, and I wish I could just have more. It’s about that feeling of your clothes in the wind while going mach 9, or even just buttering around with your friends in the park, or getting sketchy in the trees. It’s a way to do stuff that would be too nuts on a skateboard for me to bother and go places you couldn’t go with a skateboard anyway. It’s a way to face the cold winters, and not just that, but rather, embrace those winters. It isn’t just about hanging out with friends, it’s also bonding with friends. Those times you spend riding with people are special. It’s creating memories while enjoying the moment. It’s the sound of p-tex on snow and metal on metal. It’s fogged up goggles, scraping off wax, and checking for gouges on your base. It’s the lunch line on a crusty day, but it’s also the cold granola bar you eat to get more snow while people are packing the lodge. It’s legendary days, and it’s biting ones, but it’s progression and sometimes it’s packing it in and hoping tomorrow goes more smoothly. It’s face shots, but it’s also sometimes falling on your face, and laughing at yourself with your friends.

Snowboarding means nothing to me. What I mean by that is the English language does not currently have any words or phrases to accurately capture the effect snowboarding has on my life. Nothing has had more of an influence on my life than snowboarding. Nothing has inspired me to be the greatest version of me that I can be more than snowboarding. I fell in love with snowboarding five years ago but now I go to college in Illinois with no mountain for me to escape to. During the school year I bust my butt working 40 hours a week while going to school full time with nothing but dreams of snowboarding and videos to keep me motivated for the upcoming winter months. I go through this mundane hell only because I know the pure joy of strapping in and racing down the mountain. Although snowboarding leaves me with nothing in my bank account after the season is over the memories I create from snowboarding are worth a hundred times whatever I spend. To put it simply, snowboarding feels like nothing else and nothing else can come close.

It’s a subject that is being discussed everyday.. Well 1st i love the mountains and the winter and it’s a cliche to say snowboarding is my life but, …what else are we waiting for so much and we pray for so hard and what else has made us so incredibly happy? What else had made us scream our hearts out so pure, gave us such freedom? It is so visionary … but when it comes down to it to me it’s… friendship. Being in the mountain.. digging, flying, exploring.. living the dream, being waaay out there with my friends.

Snowboarding is whatever you want it to be. To me, it is simply a fun and engaging experience. I can’t think of anything else that makes me excitedly get out of a warm bed before 6am.

Although I am 21, snowboarding is very new to me, my first time standing sideways was only 13 months ago in Australia. Since then, I have strictly saved and travelled to Japan and New Zealand to escape the boring rat race routine. Now living in the US, it appears I am spoilt for choice selecting my next trip’s destination (any suggestions?).
I can’t wait to take my little brother on his first snow trip, whenever and wherever that is, I look forward to finding out what snowboarding means to him.

Snowboarding is a kind of freedom, the feeling you get top on a mountain an waiting to drop in. Nothing else can u give that feeling. Up in the north of germany, i´m waiting long months for the winter coming. And all the time i´m waiting and think of snowboarding i´m fucking happy. And this is awesome. It´s awesome to be happy only thinking of it, it´s awesome to drive besides the mountains, seeing all the snow, waiting to shred. And the most awesome moment is, when you are in a lift, at the opening of a new season, getting nervous and full of adrenalin before ur first line.
