History of Forum Snowboards

Forum Snowboards is a successful snowboarding manufacturing company that was established in 1996. It was started by a professional snowboarder, Peter Line, along with Four Star Distribution. Since they have entered the winter sports industry, they have been a successful distributer of clothing, equipment, and apparel. Forum offers designs to appeal to all different kinds of boarders. The company headquarters was located in Irvine, California. Currently the company is owned by Burton Snowboards. Forum Snowboards owns two outerwear companies. They are Special Blend and Four Square.

Forum had a snowboard team for each of the outerwear companies they owned, as well as the Forum team. The Four Square team was made up of snowboarders Peter Line, Pat Moore, and Jake Welsh, along with others. The Special Blend team consisted of Joni Malmi, Stevie Bell, and Nic Suave. These teams were both part of the Forum team. Although Peter Line had wanted to make the ultimate snowboarding team called “The Forum “. JP Walker, Jeremy Jones, Willie Yli-Luoma, and Chris Dufficy were just some of the names on the roster.

For the 2008 winter season, Forum Snowboards released a number of new products for men, women, and children. The 2009 line was mostly improved designs from the year before. The products they sell include accessories, bags, beanies, bindings, gloves, hats, headbands, streetwear, sweatshirts, T-shirts, wallets, and wristbands. They also have a wide selection of snowboard designs. Most of their snowboards are available in five different sizes. The Bully is a new board designed for men.  This board is a wider version of the Grudge design. It is specialized towards freestylers with large feet and is light and strong. The bestselling board on the Forum Snowboarding line is The Destroyer, which contains burlap inlays and used by freestylers.  The Superstar is an all terrain mountain board that is for female riders. It is lightweight and durable, while keeping a state of the art design. The Amor is another female board that has a twin-like shape and is comfortable in all conditions. The Spinster has short kicks in the tip and tail, and has a soft flex. For kids, The Mini Youngblood comes in three sizes, 137, 142, and 145. This youth board is constructed with a full wood core, a twin shape, and a softer biax glass.

Forum Snowboards has worked with Mack Dawg Productions in order to release a handful of snowboarding videos. The videos feature professional snowboarders showing off their skills. All of the videos that were released all featured athletes from the Forum snowboard team. Stevie Bell and JP Walker starred in the 2006 Sunset Films documentary “Montreal”. The next releases were “That” and “Forum Or Against ‘Em” which featured the members of the Forum 8 team

The current Forum Snowboarding team lineup is Peter Line, Joni Malmi, Jake Welsh, Jake Blauvelt, Eddie Wall, Nic Suave, Daniel Ek, Pat Moore, and John Jackson. They also have a Youngblood team which is made up of younger riders. These Youngbloods are Trevor Jacob, Austin Sweetin, Cameron Pierce, Niko Cioffi, and Rusty Ockenden.

Peter Line

Pro snowboarder Peter Line is no ordinary snowboarder that decided in 1996 to start up his own snowboarding company in Southern California. Peter Line is considered by many one of the most influential snowboarders of our time. Peter Line was making a name for himself in the burgeoning scene of snowboarding well before the likes of Shaun White were beginning to start out in the profession of snowboarding.

Peter Line’s contributions to the sport of snowboarding have and will extend for many years to come. Around the time Forum Snowboards was coming around in the mid 90s, Peter Line was mastering his craft with the invention of the Backside Rodeo.  Such an expansion of a trick palette opened up a new world of freestyle snowboarding tricks. Such contributions to the growing sport of snowboarding is being used to this day and can be contributed to the worldwide success the sport has today.

Its been shown that Peter Line’s work to expand upon his skills and push the limits of what is possible on a board has paid off in the snowboarding arena, with proven dominance in the late 90s, early 2000s in the Winter X games. In 1997 and in 1999, Peter Line won Winter X’s Big Air Snowboarding event, the Snowboarding Slopestyle event in 1999, and in the following year won the Snowboarding Big-Air event.
