The
Nike Braata skate shoe. It's the extra in the baker's dozen. Dude, it gives you a little bit extra. So, the
Nike Braata. Those guys, Nick Taylor and Steel, really wanted a skate shoe that they could just chill in, whereas Ben Huron really wanted a skate shoe where he could wake skate in or skateboard in. You know, different reasons. Some people wanted it for lifestyle, but other people wanted it for performance aspects.
By having the performance aspect as the focal point, we were able to make a stylish performing product that really is iconic, based around just the simplicities, like just thinking less is more. In this construction, we were able to add actually a little bit of mid-sole in the front. And we have mid-sole in the heel, too, so it is a very comfortable skate shoe. The fact that it has free notches in it, free was based around siphing, which is the act of cutting rubber notches, which allows us to have a really flexible skate shoe. This thing is awesome. A lot of auto-clay factories, they use very toxic solvents. They have to cook the skate shoe for hours on end. With this skate shoe, it goes through a heating oven for about five minutes, and then they can just assemble it right on the line. It is less process time to construct a skate shoe as opposed to a regular auto-clay.
Another really cool thing is we actually put an elastic gusset on the tongue so that you actually could take these laces out, and you could actually wear this day in and day out on the beach without even having to lace your skate shoes up. Your foot is not going to come out. It fits just like a slip-on. The cool thing about that is it forms around your forefoot and keeps this steady, and then you have just enough lip of foam where it actually holds your heel in. So you have this, you have this, and they kind of work in conjunction with each other.
From what Nick, and Steel, and Ben told us, they are super-psyched about this skate shoe. It is pretty much everything they wanted. Everybody on the team is super-psyched. The Nike Braata skate shoe is different enough from every other skate shoe that we sell that it kind of stands alone. It has its own identity. It has its own personality.
