Staff Review
Dave here at The House, talking about the
DC Ghost snowboard boot. It’s one of their higher-end snowboard boots – a super, super nice snowboard boot.
What you’re looking at is their Alpha liner, which is their high-end liner. It’s got some heat moldable qualities to it, so it’s going to mold to your foot, but also it’s got a really good fit out of the box, too. Some cool things about the liner: first of all, you’ve got a nice tongue tensioner, which keeps the tongue centered. It also has a removable tongue stiffener: take it out, the snowboard boot’s going to be a little better for rails, boxes, smaller stuff. Put it back in there, you make it more responsive for freeriding, pillows, stuff like that. So it’s a super versatile snowboard boot. You’ve got outlast, which is a really, really cool fabric: what it does is it takes the heat from your foot, when it’s overheated, and kicks it back to you when it’s cold out, and then vice versa as well. And it really does work, I’ve had a number of snowboard boots that I own and it’s not just a gimmick.
Also, there are hardly any seams on the liner that actually touch the foot, so it’s going to be really comfortable. Through this panel here, it’s a little bit softer, with a kind of donut area where it’s going to hold your ankle really well. From there, we move into the outer. Like all good snowboard boots this one does have the harness for the liner. Actually, the liner mounts into the snowboard boot, so instead of having the laces on the liner this is going to hold everything in the back of the snowboard boot - you can really get a heel-hold and you’re not going to move around in this thing and get blisters like you could with some other snowboard boots. You’ve got traditional lace design, metal hardware, and it’s super super durable. The ankle here actually has two positions, where you can run the laces through, changing the flex of it from a softer to a stiffer snowboard boot: that, comboed with the tongue stiffener, makes it a really all-around versatile snowboard boot.
On the bottom here, you’ve got an EVA and rubber sole: EVA to save weight, rubber to give you a really good grip. It’s got their DC diamond tread pattern, really good for hiking and on icy stuff. Outside on this snowboard boot, you’ve got a surlyn backstake (?), synthetic leather, and then kind of a woven cordera, making it a really sharp looking snowboard boot but also super durable, as all of DC’s are. It’s just a really good, high performance, all-mountain snowboard boot. As to flex in this bad boy, you’re looking at something in the six to seven range, considering one supersoft and ten stiff. The
DC Ghost snowboard boot!
