"get these"
Pros: no pressure points, very warm, flexes for grabs
Cons:
just got these and i love them. only rode them a couple times but they are already broken in. there were a few pressure points at first but as the work in they become way more flex but still keep you stable.
-
"The Ruler!"
Pros: Lightweight, Durable, Great Tying System
Cons:
This boot, is The boot! I have had this boot for a year and rode on it for the whole season and loved it. It is very light and form fitting. I had a lot of problems getting the traditional tying method to not loosen after a number of runs. With this new method of tying they are much faster to tie and they don’t come loose at all. I would defiantly recommend this boot!
-
"2011 Burton Ruler = Great Boot!!!"
Pros: 270 air bag, speed lacing- stays tight, Great heel hold
Cons:
Just picke up the restricted version of this boot and its great. It looks great and you can tell that it is a good quality boot. The 270 airbag helps reduce the pain in your knees and feet when you land too flat. The speed zone lacing system is great its very easy to tighten and loosen the boots. They rarely come loose and if they do it takes 2 seconds to fix.
-
"Yes to Rulers"
Pros: speed lacing, comfort, durable
Cons:
The Ruler is a great mid flex boot; super comfortable; warm; and will keep your feet dry all day on the hill. This boot has plenty of support for whatever you want to do. I've had Rulers from past generations and this is really one of the best boots i've ever owned. the speed lacing is really simple to use yet very effective and fast.
love these boots.
-
"lightweight comfy boot"
Pros: Lightweight, Lacing system, comfy
Cons: weak laces. ,
just got these in the mail, so of course i had to lace them on, strap up and hop around in my living room.
wow...these boots are LIGHT!! probably half the weight of my old burton's from about 8 years ago.
the lacing system is great, the boot is comfy, and surprisingly the unlacing is also super easy. I do foresee the thin laces ripping sooner than my last boots (from holding the board with my boot on the lift). but i am very excited to put these to the test.
-
"My First Pair"
Pros: Barely Any Heel Lift, Feel's Very Comfortable to move back and forth in, Feel's Snug
Cons: Stiff Around the Ankles, Too Tight can cause blood restriction,
Since these are my first pair they felt very tight and had to get used to the lacing system. Overall its easy to put on and snug. Barely any heel lift. Use their J Bars. Comfortable to move around in. Breaking them in will make your ride feel better. Great pair for beginners
-
"First pair of boots"
Pros: Fits my wide foot with no arch, Quick lace system, Moldable liner
Cons: Lots of lace left behind after lacing up so you..., need to properly tuck the toggles in to their..., pouch.
This is the first boot I've owned and it's super comfy. I have wide feet with almost no arch so it's a hard time finding a regular sneaker that fits let alone a boot that doesn't cut off circulation to my toes. The 2011 Rulers fit my foot perfectly. Couldn't ask for much more than that.
-
"WHAT a boot!"
Pros: Speed zone lacing, Comfortable liner,
Cons:
I have been riding the 2010 version of this boot, and it has been awesome! With boots I'm very picky as to how they fit and feel. After riding in them last season and having them stolen from me, I'm going to purchase another pair because they where just that good!
-
"so far so good!"
Pros: laces stay tight all day, quick and easy with gloves or mits, seem to be durable
Cons: possible pressure points on lift,
So far its been worth the money. The only problem I've had with the boots is a pressure point on the top/front of my ankle. It can get annoying if the lift ride is long but once your back on the board they work great. mid flex, good for beginner or intermediates in the park
-
"Awesome boot"
Pros: Awesome lace up system, Heat mouldable, Great traction
Cons: Laces might get in the way,
Such a great boot, so quick and easy to lace up and get going. The upper and lower laces are a great feature for the perfect fit. I noticed even when putting the pull tabs in their pockets, when taking my pants off they often got caught up, but thats a minor con. Wicked traction in the snow, never slipped. Got them moulded before I left and they felt perfect form day 1. Highly recommend these, even if it is only for laces as my mates had the usual system and took a lot longer to lace up, plus any adjustments while on the mountain are easy with just a pull.
-
"Great boot."
Pros: Comfy, Warm, Good fit
Cons:
Just spent 10 days with these boots and am really happy with the purchase. They fit well, are comfy and light. Can't really fault them. Easy to dry out with the removable lining and kept me warm all day. I normally wear a US 11.5 or 12 shoe but bought these in an 11, at first i thought I'd made a mistake but the padding packed down a bit and fit well after a few days. Not much more I can say. Highly recommend them, especially for the price.
-
"The Only Boot"
Pros: Good price, Works for all types of boarding, Durable
Cons: Reduced footprint fits small with bindings,
I bought the Burton Ruler about 5 years ago after getting frustrated with how uncomfortable my 32's were. This year it was time to get a new pair of boots so I purchased the Burton Ion, because of the praise they've received for being such a great boot. I really disliked the Ion, and had to get the 2011 Burton Ruler, to see if it was still as good as I remembered.
Sure enough, this years Ruler is still as awesome as it was 5 years ago.
Very versatile boot with just the right amount of support and flex to keep you stable at high speeds, and allow you to really press a butter.
The only issue I had with this boot was the reduced profile. It seemed to fit small in my 2010 Burton Cartel bindings. I had to adjust the straps as tight as they would go in order to properly lock in. However, I did manage to get a comfortable binding setting and I wouldn't take a star rating away because of it.
Get this boot.

"great boots"
Pros: easy lacing system, comfortable, good support
Cons: replacing laces may be an issue,
i've used these boots for a few times this season and they work great so far. very comfortable, no pressure points, no heel lift. they are a bit stiffer than expected but no biggie. my only concern would be the difficulty of replacing the laces.
-
"Rulin' the mountains in the Ruler"
Pros: SPEED LACING, Smaller Footprint, Comfort++
Cons: Colors,
I bought these boots for the $200 retail price this year at the Darkside shop in Killington, VT. I settled with the Ruler after trying on a pair of Rome Libertines, DCs, and the Burton AWOL. I'm super stoked I stuck with the Ruler. The Speed Lace setup (which I was completely new to) is AMAZING. I wouldn't be able to get my boots on quicker, or any tighter, without the speed setup. I have the green and white pair. The pictures make it look brown, and it's advertised as brown, but it's definitely more of a black. I completely fell in love with these boots when I noticed my foot feeling a little loose about halfway through my day...I got in line for the lift, and tightened my boots in the line, took no more than a minute or two...awesome.
-
"Dancing Shoes"
Pros: Speedy lacing, Tight comfortable fit, Undaunted Style
Cons: Narrow boot,
Sick boots for all your footwear needs. The speed lacing system is clutch for when you want to lounge around the cabin then jump right back out there without a hitch. I have a pretty narrow foot, and the boots fit like a glove for me.
-
"Great buy"
Pros: comfortable, great hold, versatility
Cons:
Best boots ever (well, I say that because it's my first pair of boots!)! I was glad to invest in these because it holds my feet down well, they are comfortable and have no disturbing contact points. The liner is very warm in addition to my sock layers. Easy to use pull-tabs for tigheting and loosening of the boot. I'm in my boot and out of it in seconds because of the unique lacing system. I can adjust both lower and upper regions of the boot independently for a more custom-flex.
-
"pretty darn good boots"
Pros: fit, lacing, size
Cons: none,
These are the first pair of boots I've owned, and I have to say they're pretty sweet. Of course, I've only worn rental boots thus far, so I can't really say I have anything worthy to compare them to. However, just from trying them on in the store, I could tell they would be very comfortable. The speedzone lacing was new to me, but it made lacing up FAST. After putting them on, the first thing I noticed was the lightness in weight. I didn't feel like I had cinder blocks on my feet.
Ever since buying these, I've spent about 6 days of boarding in them. I can safely say my feet have felt comfortable each and every day. These boots hug my feet comfortably. They make walking around not nearly as clunky as when I had rental boots. After a day of boarding, the speedzone lacing also makes it a snap to take the boots off and toss them in the trunk instead of having to rub your fingers raw pulling at laces.
Bottom line, these boots are awesome.
-
"Burton Ruler - Favorite Boot Ever"
Pros: Light, but supportive, comfy, speedzone lacing kills it
Cons: havent really found one yet,
I have been riding Burtons Ruler boot for about four years now, the 2011 model is the second pair i've owned and I have yet to try on a boot that feels better right out of the box. I switched to the Ruler initially for the SpeedZone lacing system and I dont intend on switching back to classic laces. I can be in and out of my boot in half the time it would take to lace up traditional laces and the ripcord that Burton uses is super tough. My last pair of Rulers got tossed due to stink and not performance, trust me I tried everything I could like of or look up to save those boots. Once I looked into the new model I was stocked to see the 270 air cushioned heel bed as well as the smaller footprint.
It's not named Ruler for sh*ts n giggles boys and girls, this boot is here to stay!
-
"Free boots!"
Pros: light, flexible,
Cons: pressure point, narrow,
I had an earlier version of this boot, but the strings snapped. i sent it to Burton and within 2 weeks i received the new 2011 edition pair. The only problem is they are narrower than the earlier edition so my bindings can't get as tight as i want the,
-
"As good as it gets"
Pros: fast, secure lacing system, light & comfortable, build quality & appearance
Cons: none so far,
Huge step up from my 2002 Motos. The Ruler is light, good looking, firm and flexible in the right spots. The lacing system is amazing. I can be in or out of both boots in seconds and the laces hold firm all day. Works great in all conditions, though I am new to the park so can't say I push the limits there. And after a full day my feet feel great, warm and dry. Couldn't ask for more.
-
"great stuff"
Pros: light, easy to fit,
Cons: 1 pressure point,
just got these boot and used them once. obviously really easy to put on due to the speed lacing. 1st impression was that it was extremely light compared to my old hammer boots. The only probably l had with it is that i have a pressure point on my leading foots pinky, only get it during the lift up. l think it has something to do with holding the board with only 1 foot. if someone can shed light that would be nice. nice quality liner, felt really soft and warm. would highly recommend. if you can't afford these, then moto is alot similar but softer according to review and my good friend
-
"Ruler meets the measurement"
Pros: Feels really comfy after a few runs, Zone Lace system is great, Good response with my setup
Cons: Has a few pressure points, takes a few runs to feel really comfy, Easily got scraped up
The Ruler is a good boot. I don't have much to compare with since my last boot wasn't that great. I can say that after a few runs I don't even feel them. I figure the heat molding liner does it's job there. When I first got them I did notice a few pressure points. I still feel them every now and then, but I don't lace so tight anymore. The boot is still stiff enough for me to charge the mountain to wear them just so that they are laced up comfortably. I used to have to wear my old boots so tight to get them respond they way I want. I can ride aggressive free ride. I only ride park every so often. The zone lace works great to get that perfect feel. However, I did scrape up my left boot pretty good with my bindings so the the lace zone for my left foot area doesn't work anymore. But since the upper zone still works the boot is still useable without issue. So good thing there are the zones otherwise the boot may be done. But overall its pretty comfy the way I wear it and I can be really agressive but still have flex when I need. Overall pretty good boot.
-
"A great all mountain choice"
Pros: mid stiff, great price point,
Cons: 100 days is all you get, boot liner lacking,
First, the Burton W48 program is legit and they sent me the 2011 Rulers to replace my 2010 Rulers with about 100 days on them after the sole separated from the boot.
The 2011 is mainly the same boot with a great mid-stuff, with an improved liner locking mechanism,a firmer feel for the SpeedZone lacing and more cushioning in the boot. These three improvements really make the boot better in the park and a better all day fit. The one downer is they seem to be about a .25 or .50 size bigger than the 2010. I think I would have preferred the size 10.5 as I put on the 11 and it fit just how my packed out 2010 editions did. Maybe size down 1/2 a size on these.
I use these for my in-bounds riding, they are too soft for the steeps and monster pow days, that's when my Ion's come out.
-
"The one Boot to Rule Them All"
Pros: Snug Tight Fitting, Easy lacing,
Cons: Looks like big sneakers?,
This boot is very well made. The lace system is near impossible to do wrong with essentially three motions and your laced up. removing is a snap as well with the same motions in reverse. adjusting on the fly is sometimes a necessary situation on the hill and the Ruler passes with flying colors.
-
"Comfy Boots"
Pros: Speed Laces, Snug Fit,
Cons:
This is my first time using a boot with the speed laces and I can definitely say I won't be going back. It's so easy and quick to just put your feet in and just lace up real quick. The boot liner on the inside is really snug and just hugs your fit. I highly recommend taking the liner and putting them on first and then putting the boot on second rather than just leaving the liner in the boot and just putting them on like that.
-
"Ruler"
Pros: Quick lace system, comfortabe, not to pricy
Cons:
When i first saw this boot the quick lace system stuck me as the coolest idea ever. i was amazied with how fast i could just srap up and go. i like to hike in the snow to snowboard and not only are they fast to lace up there are comfortable also. And for the price they are a great buy!!!
-
"These boots RULE!"
Pros: lacing system, comfortable,
Cons:
The lacing system on these boots makes it really easy to get in and out of the boot quickly. Plus if you need to adjust them on the mtn its easy to do on the lift so your not wastin any shred time. These boots are very comfortable and give good support and have about a mid flex. Id recommend these boots for anyone.
-
"Excelentes!!"
Pros: Comfotrable, Design,
Cons: No,
Excelentes botas, abrigadas, comodas, buen diseno! muy ben feeling
-
"Great Boot"
Pros: Quick, Easy, Comfortable
Cons: Stains easily,
Just got these boots in Dec. 2010 and have had the chance to ride powder, rails, kickers, and race a boarder x race in them. So far I am extremely happy with the performance. They are stiff enough I have plenty of control at high speeds, and I really like to crank on my boots to make them tight and firm so there is no play when trying to turn at high speeds. The lacing system allows me to really have them tight for my run, and adjust them loose for the lift ride up and avoid cutting off the circulation in my feet. I also competed in my first rail jam with these boots, and leaving them slightly looser allowed me to really poke it out for a stylish jib. I would recommend, like many others have, getting a size smaller than you may normally ride. I listened to the reviews, despite my original apprehension of getting such a small boot, and I am glad I did because my boots seemed to pack out with in the first two days riding. I would also recommend getting them in black if possible, the white is nice out of the box, but like anything white, they were fairly stained after the first use. These are the best boots I have ever owned, and I am very happy with them. I rated them 4 stars because of the ease and convenience combined with comfort and performance of the boots.
-
"awesome boots"
Pros: very warm/comfortable, nice price, easy to lace up
Cons:
first boots i spent money on and i dont regret it at all....very comfortable the store i bought them from does free heat moldings with a burton boot purchase....i do love the speedzone makes lacing up a breeze...overall this boot gets an A+ from me
-
"2011 Burton Ruler"
Pros: comfortable, warm,
Cons: none,
AWESOME. Fits like a glove. Stays warm on the coldest days, and the lacing system is amazing.
-
"Top Notch"
Pros: Great Lacing System, Great Styling, Comfort
Cons:
I demo'ed these, and I have to say they are great. The lacing system rocks. I can get these as tight as I need to. They look great, and they are comfortable. Highly recommended if you can afford them.
-
"Quick n Easy"
Pros: Super comfy, Warm, Quick n Easy to lace
Cons:
Great boots, super comfortable, never had cold feet and so easy to lace up and tuck the tabs in. As a first set of boots ive actually owned i found these boots to be a great set and a real time saver A+
-
"Great Boots"
Pros: Comfortable, Lace system,
Cons:
I really do not like ot use boots with actual laces. These boots have the great lace syatem i like. They are comfy and fun to ride in.
-
"comfortable boot"
Pros: comfortable, warm, quick lace system
Cons:
I decided to buy these boots because of how comfortable they were, ive used them a bunch of times and i can say they keep my toes incredibly warm and they are also a good stiffness for my style of riding which is mostly park/groomers. i would reccomend these to people instead of the Motos because the Motos seemed to flimsy and unsupportive
-
"Sweet Boots"
Pros: Comfy, Warm, Easy On/Off
Cons: Easy to Over Tighten,
My pros and cons pretty much said it all. Great fitting boots, really warm. I wear a 12 sneaker, and these 12 boots fit perfect. Great response combined with Burton Cartels. I love backcountry ungroomed riding and these kept me warm no matter how much pow I was pushing through. Only complaint is they are easy to overtighten but thats just the operators error. Overall great boots.
-
"killer boots"
Pros: comfy, quick, reliable
Cons: kinda hard to get on,
sweet boots, i enjoy them and they are mighty fast to tie
-
"Sweet Boots"
Pros: warm, speed lacing system, lightweight
Cons: fit,
These are the first non-rental boots that I've owned and I love em. They keep my feet warm all day and are much lighter than any other boots I've used. The lacing system is really nice. The boots are ready to with a couple pulls on the straps and you're set for the day. The one con so far is that I do get a numb spot after a few hours on my right foot. It happens with most boots I've used so it might just be my foot. It's not enough to really bother me, and the pros way outweigh any cons. Overall the boots are a great buy.
-
"comfortable plush boot"
Pros: very warm, comfortable, lacing system
Cons: none,
This boot is very comfortable compared to my old head boots that I had. They keep my feet warm when everyone else is complaining about how cold their toes are but mine are fine. I can feel how soft it is inside the boot and thats something that my old boots didnt feel like which made them ache and have some foot pain for an hour or so but it would settle down throughout the day.
-
"Love these boots"
Pros: Comfort, Laces, Shrinkage Tech
Cons: None thus Far,
These boots were a part of my 2010-2011 setup. 2010 Sierra Crew and Rome 390 Binders.
Loved these boots right out of the box. Great looking with a lot of tech.
Some key features are:
* speed zone laces - These are super convenient with and upper and lower tightening strap for adjustability
* Shrinkage Tech - Boots fit true to size, at least for me, but the profile is a one size down. (10.5 is like a 9.5). Allows for less toe or heel overhang. This is more important the larger the boot.
* Imprint Liner - heat moldable liner for exceptional comfort.
As long as the shell stands up to it, I can see myself only replancing the liner for the next few seasons.
Great boot for a great price. No complaints here.
-
"Comfortable Boots"
Pros: Comfortable, Easy to tie up,
Cons:
Very comfortable boots. The lace system makes it so easy to lace up and nice tight snug fit. 9/10
-
"Nice Fitting Boot!"
Pros: Simple Lacing System, Lightweight, Warm
Cons: Fit,
Just bought these (not here as they didnt have my size, sorry TS) a month ago, paired them with my cartels. Boots fit nicely, are a comfortable tight fit around toes and ankle, and are a little loose at the top. Duel lacing system really helps out, but they still stay a little loose (not enough to cause a panic, i just like my setup TIGHT!). Feet have never felt cold or water in them, aside from my swampfeet towards the end of the day. Overall, great purchase but im sure you could find the same for less $$

"YEY"
Pros: Warm, Low Profile, Speed Laces
Cons: Scared of Speed Laces Breaking,
Just got this for Christmas and I couldn't be more excited. They are such an upgrade from my old Head boots and they have such a slimmer profile as well as weight reduction. The lower profile helps them fit my bindings better too. If you have the money pick them up asap.
-
"3 years strong"
Pros: comfy and warm, didnt pack out, versatile
Cons:
i have been riding burton rulers for 3 years now. i have bought a new pair every single year since 2008. these boots have treated me very well. they didnt pack out or get cold or hard. they were also very versatile... i learned to do park in these boots but also was able to bomb down the hills no problem great response. highly recommend.
-
"Love the boot!"
Pros: Dual Zone Speed Lacing, Light, Quick to get on and off!
Cons:
Love these boots! Will buy them again!
-
"Great Boot!"
Pros: lacing system is sick!, warm, comfy!
Cons:
these are very lightweight, all mountain shredders. they are very comfy. the lacing system is super nice, and your boots won't loosen up over time during the day. the lacing system will not break; it's very strong. this boots flex is mid, so it will allow you to rip up anything from park to pow and anything in between! highly recommended!
-
"Great boot"
Pros: Lace system is sweet, Light, Warm
Cons: none,
Love these boots and I'm really critical. I was suspect of the lacing system. But, they are the greatest thing ever. Perfect boot for all mountain riding. But them a half size small as the leather breaks in(recommended by my local Burton rep).
-
"My favourite boots"
Pros: Comfy, Quick Lacing system, Feels good when rididing/Great control
Cons: none rly, I seldom tuck in speed laces improperly(my fault),
I love these boots! I have always loved burton boots as they have a narrower feel, they arent narrow on the foot really just the boot feels narrower in the binding which is good. I have used 2 pairs of burtons, 1 pair of dcs, and one pair of 5150s. The 5150s were too cheap. I had a pair of tributes which were great! than i moved to dcs which were way to wide feeling, i had to be moving to have any control in them, sucked for butters, ground tricking, spinning, but surprisly i felt sturdy as hell on rails, i felt like weights on my feet. But both burtons ive had were great. These boots have speed laces which are GREAT, fast and tighten to better tightness as wanted. I have great control in them whether jibbing or bombing hills, and their super comfy. After i got rid of my DC's and threw on my rulers it just felt right.
-
"Very Good Boot!"
Pros: Very Quick, Comftorable, Great heel hold
Cons:
I bought these boots this year and they have worked very well for me. They have awesome heel hold and they are aperfect stiffness for me. I mainly ride powder and trees and they have been great. The only thing about these boots that i have a complaint about is how about every 5 runs it feels like the lacing system is coming loose but besides that awesome boots!
-
"Burton Ruler"
Pros: Comfortable, Affordable, Speed Lace
Cons: It makes other boots look bad,
Definitely one of the very best out there in terms of performance, fit, and price.
You cannot ask for more. Burton also has the best speed lace system out there. You will be ready to go in less than 30 seconds!
-
"This boot is sick!!"
Pros: fits great with freestyle bindings,
Cons: Can't think of any,
Love this boot super comfortable. You can wear this boot all day and not even worry about it.
-
"decent boot"
Pros: price, speed laces,
Cons:
Good boot for all mountain park riding. When you're lacing up make sure you don't tighten the top too tight or you'll cut the circulation off and your feet will be on fire
-
"never changing boots again !!!"
Pros: easy to get on, Moulded to foot quickly, good price
Cons:
these boots are awesome! they were easy to put on and moulded quickly to my feet making it very very comfortable. if your looking for boots then this is it ! definitely gonna keep these for awhile !! go out and buy em !
