because they're awwwweeesome

It is a bit stiffer than some bindings a 6 on the scale. I'm your kind of rider finding himself in either pow or advanced level terrain and I tend to stay away from the park.

I just recently bought the burton genesis est 2014 bindings and I just noticed that the little notches on the foam of the footbed are not on this pair of bindings. The other bindings I was looking at like the cartels had them so I assumed they were on the genesis. I'm not sure how to fix this or maybe it is just a faulty footbed? Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

Best Answer: Hey,

Matt answered this exact question above so I will copy his answer for you.

"After the clear bubble on the footbeds of EST bindings started to crack or fog up Burton decided to get rid of it." -So no it is not a faulty footbed

"Pretty much all of the 2014 EST footbeds have notch markers in the foam to align the bindings to the angle number needed. For some reason the 2014 Burton Gensis EST Snowboard Bindings don't have a marker on their footbeds.

You could do what I do when before I take my bindings off to wax my board; outline the baseplate with a permeant marker. Mount your Malavitas with the exact angles you ride and outline the baseplate with a permeant marker. Then line up and mount your Genesis bindings with the markings. Voila!

Overall you can mount your bindings anyway you'd like, traditional discs only allow 3 degree increments where as the EST system allows for any angles you want. Mount the Genesis EST's where ever they feel most comfortable!"

I had a pair of 12' Malavita's EST, and I recently replaced with these Genesis EST's. My Malavita's had a really nice bubble/line when adjusting the degrees on the board. I could dial it in to exactly -12, 12, -10, 15, etc.... With this set of bindings I don't have any sort of marker to line up with the degrees hashmarks. Why don't they have this on these bindings? What do you suggest I do to get dialed in quickly and accurately with these bindings?

I'm going to be getting the Custom X 152cm, you said the Cartel EST's were the best in the world. However, these seem to be the cartels with slightly less stiffness and some cool features, I'm an advanced rider that has been riding for 10 years, would you recommend the Genesis over the Cartel's?
Austin on Nov 20, 2013
Best Answer: Hey Robert,

You're the Genesis and Cartels are going to feel fairly similar. The Genesis does have a slightly softer highback that allows movements to roll across the Kickback Hammock Hi-Back, in addition to that the Hammockstrap is pretty unreal; even when it's as tight as it can be you'll hardly feel any pressure on your boots, they feel snug without pinching.

Then there is the tried-and-true Cartel. I believe that it's the best all around snowboard binding ever. It's bombproof, comfortable, and minimalistic.

Imagine that the Cartel is a stock Porsche Cayenne and the Genesis is a Porsche Cayenne with a two-tone candy paint job, 30" rims, JBL sound system, and spoiler that's been lowered. Both the Cartel and Genesis will do the same job, but the Genesis has a little more flair.

I am thinking about getting a new board will these be good for medium speed freeride on something like a libtech?
Jack G on Jan 17, 2014
Best Answer: Hi Jack,

The Burton Genesis EST Snowboard Bindings can only be mounted on Burton boards that feature the Channel System.

The Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings (Non-EST) would be great on a Libtech! Check out the Burton Genesis Snowboard Bindings out HERE: http://www.the-house.com/bt1gen04gnm14zz-burton-snowboard-bindings.html
