Staff Review

Dave here at the House, talking about one of the best all-around park snowboards I've got in the shop. It's a Burton X8 snowboard. The Burton X8 new last season. We've got a really good price on the pulled out ones, which this is.
Basically, what you're looking at here, a super high end snowboard, a ton of technology. They are specifically designed for the park rider. First off, you have obviously got the ICS, or "Channel Mounting System". It's going to function really good with their EST snowboard bindings. Basically, it allows for super good width adjustment, angle adjustment, and if used with the EST snowboard bindings, it totally eliminates the hard plastic underneath your foot, and increases the cushion at the same time too. So, better snowboard feel, more cushion, reduced weight, super easy stance options. So, it definitely, definitely revolutionized the snowboard binding-to-board interface.
The other stuff on this wicked stick here, first of all, it's got a 10/45 sidewall. The black portion here is a 45 degree, and then that goes into a 10, so there's a lot of meat right over the edge. It absorbs impact really well. It cuts through the icy, hard packed terrain, but then they go with the 45 to reduce overall weight on the snowboard. Other than that, it's got their park Fly-Core, which is pretty cool. It's designed to be a softer flexing core, especially in the nose and the tail, but also be very, very lightweight. It also goes through their "infinite ride" process, which is, they'll over-build the snowboard and stick it into a machine that simulates about two to three years of usage. With that, you flex the snowboard the first time right out of the box. It flexes the same way at the end of your first, and at the end of the second season. So, a really smooth, consistent flex to it.
From there, you've got a centered die-cut base. All these are cut out and inlaid on each other. It saves weight verses inking on the base. A lot of them use a little bit better grade of p-text. Super, super fast base for a park snowboard. It's their WFO base, which, guess what that stands for, it's "Wide Fxxxing Open". Other than that, you've got a middle of the road fiberglass. It's going to make it a very forgiving deck. Super soft nose and tail, a little bit meatier through the center. This is definitely, definitely an all-terrain freestyle killer, for sure.
Other than that, just a great deck. It's kind of got a fishing lure thing going on with the gangster metallic paint. Yeah - the Burton X8 Snowboard.
A good snowboard for all you park blokes.
