Staff Review

To the men's boards now. We'll start out with the Park category. So with this, we're looking at boards that, you know, you're not limiting yourself to park riding, but they definitely cater to and excel in the park arena.
First off we've got the Dominant. You know, really this board is designed for Midwest riding. It's got a pretty square shape with a mellow side cut. It's really predictable, stable and easy to ride. This is the first level we introduced the Park Fly Core at. It's a little more beefy between your feet; but reduced swing weight between the tip and the tail.
A couple of new things this year: it does come with the park edge, so again, a thicker metal edge to help withstand impacts of handrails, or boxes, or any sort of abuse you can throw at it. It comes with Lightspeed Vision base, kind of like a skateboard looking graphic. It's pretty rad, like old-school kind of trashed base; and then grip tape top sheet. Stickers will hold on this too, it's pretty rat.
It's a Directional Twin. Comes with centered stance and Directional Flex, but a twin shape. It's more of a mid-wide. This is a board you'd want to ride a little bit shorter than your traditional boards. So if you typically ride a 156, I'd say step down to a 154 in the Dominant. It's super playful, fun, and easy to ride. So that's your Dominant. You can't go wrong with this piece.

Description

Burton Dominant Snowboard 156 Blem
More pop than a freshly gripped 7-ply skate deck. From mini shred jersey jumps, to triple kink urban ledges, the skate-style Dominant will make you jump for joy like you just found the rainbros proverbial pot o gold. With the endless pop of Infinite Ride, buttery flex of the Park Fly core, and the bite-free Rail Ready tune, you might wonder where the trucks and wheels go, cause this things pretty much a skateboard for snow.

This board has some minor cosmetic defects-nothing that affects the performance

  • "09 Dom, beast? I think so!"

    , Mankato, MN
Pros: Pop is beastly, Handles well on pretty much all terrain, Cons: Stiffer than they say it is, Not best in back country,

Got this board as my first board, about $60 cheaper than what it is listed now, oh well. Anywho I've now had two seasons on this board and have excelled quite fast on it. I'm no beast in the park but it handles well with what I can do. I got a friend who skis and is a little over weight so when he goes, momentum makes him go fast! When trying to keep up with him I hardly ever carve and this board takes a beating but holds up amazingly! It can take any groomer like a dream. It is stiffer than it says it is, in my opinion with relation to other boards, so it handles quite well at very high speeds. It's more than just a jibbing board, but it works the rails and boxes soo much better than any other board I've ridden. Have tossed up the idea of getting a new board but I've come to the realization that I can never let this board go. I've also gone hiking with this a loooot and it's harder that frozen piss to handle in the deeper snow. Especially because I ride it a few cm shorter than what all the calculators say I should, and it's not tapered at all. Other than that it can hang with the best of them on just about everything else. Get it if you can! You wont regret it!

  • "Great for the daily park rats"

    , CEDAR CITY, UT
Pros: Easy to jump on and ride, nice factory edges, Cons:

Ok the reason i gave this deck no cons in because it is a park board if you want something to cruise on or play in powder this deck isnt for you. however if you like me and have a few decks i bring this deck up anytime im filming rails because it a jibbers dream deck if you dont belive me go look up some videos of jeremy jones he used to ride this deck for several years

  • "Nice all around stick"

    , Mountain View, CA
Pros: Strength and durability, Forgiving, Cons: Stiff,

I've owned this board for a few seasons and it still looks and rides like new. Unfortunately that means it hasn't really let off on the stiffness even after a bunch of riding. Not really a park board as far as I'm concerned, but it'll do work and definitely gets you through the the trees. Overall it's pretty good for someone trying to progress and feel out their style.

  • "Great all park board!"

    , Reynoldsburg, OH
Pros: forgiving, nice pop , looks great Cons: a little stiff,

This is a very good beginners to intermediate board. This board is for those who like to ride park all day and hit small jumps. I had lots of fun with this board. The only thing i would improve is the flexibility. I would make it a lil softer. But overall an awesome board

  • "Burton Dominant"

    , AL
Pros: Very Durable, Good Rotation, Good for switch riding Cons: Does not have a lot of pop, Sinks in powder, Not very flexible

The twin shape makes this board easy to ride both regular and switch. While it does not have a lot of pop or flex, it is durable and does not nick or scratch easily. I would not take this board into the powder. It sinks in the snow instead of floating. While this board does not preform well in powder, it is a great board for the park.Overall this is a great board and i would recommend this to anyone. It is good for all levels of skill. In the end it was worth the money and a great buy.
