  • "Solid again: the Crush never disappoints!"

    Pros: Great edge hold, Playful but forgiving, Durable Cons:

    Year after year the Crush is the first board I want to demo when the new gear comes around. It remains a mystery to me how they manage to make a rocker board which still works very well on hardpack and icy areas. Smooth ride on even choppy terrain, rocker makes it playful with slopestyle and the flex is stiff enough to let you open up without concern. I just dont understand why Ride promotes this one as a park board, in my opinion it is truly a top all around board: park, powder, slopes... you name it! The demo days were in July in France, so I couldnt test it in powder... however: every crush I have owned and demoed in the last 4 years was amazing in the powder: Im expecting this years model to follow that tradition. I rated this as an intermediate board only because you cant choose more than one rating here: I think it is fine for beginners(very forgiving/smooth riding/easy turns)as well as stronger riders (stability/playfulness/pop/float).

    This review is for the 2011 Ride Crush. I spent about a week on this board riding at JFBB in PA. Preconceived notions: Ride markets this board as a more jib specific park deck that can also handle jumps. The rocker is minimal, and the construction feels solid. Flex: Handflexing, it feels soft. however, while riding, it is a bit stiffer towards the tip and tail. I actually had a difficult time pressing this board. I could lock into board slides easily, but presses took some effort. Stability: for a park deck, it is insanely stable. I was bombing down icy december runs and it was a breeze. Edgehold was great too. Not too much chatter. The slime walls also help with dampening the bumps on the runs. Durability: Very durable. I hit many chunks of ice, a few rocks, and sides of rails. no major scratches on the base, and the top sheet held up nicely. Personal thoughts: After having it for a week, i traded it in for something else. This board was meant to fill the jib stick spot in my quiver, but it was not the noodle i expected. It was a great ride, similar to the DH, but i personally felt it was not jib specific. I would have liked to have tried it in some powder, but PA in december means your a lucky enough to be riding on any surface. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a stiffer board to cruise the park with.
