Description: Burton Chopper Snowboard - Boys

The Burton Chopper is the longest running kids snowboard on this earth, even the Flying Tomato rode a Chopper when he was a grom. This year the Chopper becomes even easier to ride than ever before which will make your kids first turns on snow more fun than pain. The Zero camber and Easy Rider base means that pressure is taken off the edges when the board is on a flat base meaning fewer winding toe edge catches and whiplash inducing heel edge catches.

I wish I had one of these back in 1989! My sons first board and binding combo w/mission bindings has helped him fall in love with riding. Smooth edge to edge and forgiving flex allows greater trust in turning. Def would recommend! #Burtonforever

Good allaround
This is a good all around board and rides well in a bunch of different conditions. Pretty happy with it. Flex is better compared to my older board.

Picked this board based on the fact that it's probably the best learning board out there and the price is great.

Liked the board, Burton...solid, and graphics were a style by son would dig. Plus last year's model to help save with the whole setup.

My son is 13 weights 85 lbs size 7.5 mens shoe. What is best economical first snowboard to own? Need boots and bindings as well. It's a Christmas gift.

Best Answer: Hi! We bought this board (Burton Chopper- size 130 cm) for my son's 8th birthday. It has been a GREAT board for him and he is still able to use it a year an a half later. He will turn 10 in March and weighs 70 pounds and wears size 5 in boys. My other son who is 11 and weighs 75 pounds, size 6 shoe can also use it. I believe the Chopper only fits up to a size 6 shoe in youth.

I quickly glanced at the Burton size and fit chart and here's what I suggest (I am no means an expert at this):

I would go with a board that is between 240-245 cm waist width. (This is based off his shoe size). Here are some board that fall into that category and that also fall in his weight range:

(All of the following are Burton boards)

I think any of these would be a great started board for your son! Good luck shopping!

Best Answer: We have the Burton citizen. But I think any with a 3 bolt pattern plate should work.

What bindings go with this board?
A shopper on Dec 5, 2014
Best Answer: Hey,
This Burton Chopper uses the 3D mounting system, which a little unique. You will want to look specifically at Burton's youth bindings here: Under compatibility, make sure it says "3D."

Merry Christmas, I just gifted the Burton Chopper to my 11 year old, he loves the board, however I ordered it with the Sapient Prodigy Bindings and LTD Classic Boots. The bindings are not compatible ( kind of wish I knew this as I ordered it) anyway, I need to send the bindings and boots back and need to get a set that will work with the board...can you suggest what to buy for my son who is a beginner? Thank-you
Diane C on Dec 25, 2013
Best Answer: Hello Diane,I'm sorry to hear about the mishap.

The Sapient Prodigy Bindings product page lists the mounting system compatibility as 4x4, where as the Burton Chopper has a 3D mounting system.

You do not have to return the boots if they fit.

What size of feet/boots does your son have? That answer will help me to better suggest bindings for you.
