Description: Dynastar Cham 97 Skis

The Dynastar Cham 97 is the most versatile ski among 2014's Cham Series. The Levitation Profile is a 5 point sidecut which gives the ski the utmost utility in any snow condition. Long Tip Rocker give the Cham 97 float in powder, maneuverability, control, and an easy turn initiation. The traditional camber underfoot paired with the Pin Tail provide reliable stability, grip, power, and drive. The Wood Titanal core is a combination of lightweight wood and two titanal layers which will reduce torsional effects, chatter, and deadening. The Dynastar Cham 97 is playful and lively. A great pick for a high level intermediate to advance level all mountain skier.

    Pros: Good Edge Hold,Smooth Ride,Floats in Powder,Smooth Carves,Durable,Great Carving,Great Response,Good Grip,Great Construction, Cons: A little on the heavy side

These look a little strange but perform exceptionally well. I found them to be quite quick edge to edge and very carve friendly. The spoon tip helps the ski float and allows it to be rather forgiving. I really enjoy this ski for an everyday all mountain experience. Great ski.

Would these be good for the backcountry?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, the Dynastar Cham 97 Skis are great for the backcountry. They are on the lighter side and have a spoony look to the tip so your uphill travel will be a bit easier. The downhill performance is awesome on these sticks. Dynastar designed the Cham series with some pretty wild geometry but it translates to float in the deep and control/drive/precision on the resort. The 97 has a modest waist that is perfect for the dedicated back/sidecountry skier for longer or technical skins track/trips. Great for light and swift travel. However, if you are looking for pure powder performance and not minding a bit more work on the uphill the Cham Series does have some bigger sets. Check them out here.
