Solomon A: I bought these skis for my 17month old son so definitely intended for entry level use, but if you were getting these in a much larger size then these skis are probably a good choice for a beginner-intermediate skier given the modest dimensions:) Jan 4, 2014

Griffin S: probably intermediate. i bought these for my 13 daughter. she has been skiing about 8 yrs, is 5' 4", about 110 lbs and an intermediate skier -- does parralel turns at a moderate speed. she loves them. Jan 2, 2014

but judging from the picture the tails are flat.

No, they are not. Twin Tip Skis have a rounded tip and tail; they look similar on both ends of the ski. Kinda like this:
