i consider myself intermediate/advanced intermediate. i stick mostly to the groomers, very little off piste. have to deal with icey, crunchy and slushy slopes at times. my current skis are too short ( 152cm, i am 173cm tall, 183lbs ). fine when i started out, but, got lucky , caught on quick. i find it hard to keep them stable at higher speeds- NOT downhill Black Diamond speeds, just faster blues on the straights. Are these, or the Salomon Enduro 850s, or also the Rossignol Basalt 76/82s a good fit for my level and style of preferred slopes ? Any input is appreciated.

Best Answer: Dave,

Congrats on catching the fire. Skiing is a great sport and lifestyle. I feel part of the reason you are not able to keep hold at high speed is because your talent level is being hindered by your equipment. You are skiing on short entry level skis with Demo bindings. Ski packages are more affordable because they are typically entry level with adjustable bindings. It's time for you to step up you game my friend.

The Rossignol Experience 88 is the ski for you. The waist is thicker than the Salomon Enduro but this is truly a positive. The Auto Turn Rocker is a gentle flare of rocker in the tip that allows the ski ease of turn initiation on the groomers, a forgiving ski experience, and floatation. It also allows the ski to feel narrower than it is. It is a great intermediate ski.

You are loosing power transfer with your bindings. The nice thing about Demo bindings is they can be adjusted for different boot size. However, the more moving parts the more movement of the binding. This cuts the accuracy of your movement.
